We have over 40 years collective experience in hairstyling, and can offer you the right advice - whether it be for a cut and colour or just what to use on your hair to help maintain its health and vitality.
SHANNON DOWD - HEAD STYLIST/OWNER
Hi I'm Shannon, owner and very senior stylist. I started my career in 1999 at the ripe old age of 15. I'm married to my amazingly supportive husband Jamie and we have two kids, a cat and a dog. Jamie and I bought Zibido in 2006. It's been quite a journey, but an amazing one.
My story behind choosing hairdressing as my career.
I went to a salon in Pukekohe for a haircut. This glamazon of a hairdresser cut my hair. She made me feel so special and from that moment I knew I wanted to create that feeling in other people.
I'm definitely a colourist a heart. I love creating brights and blondes, and absolutely love a juicy colour correction. I also specialise in Great Lengths 100% human hair extensions.

Hi, I’m Pip.
I love being a senior stylist at Zibido. I have been hairdressing for more than 15 years, so not quite a dinosaur yet, and I am still excited to create hair and love being able to work with brands that Zibido supports like Tigi Copyright Colour, ghd and Sustainable Salons NZ!
At the moment I am so lucky to be involved with professional industry organisations such as the New Zealand Association of Registered Hairdressers Inc. and HITO the Industry Training Organsation for Hairdressing, Barbering and Beauty, as well as be part of some community film projects.
Last year I was so excited to win the title of NZ Colourist of the Year for my photographic collection entered in the New Zealand editorial competition: Industry.
The best part of being at Zibido is the awesome team and all our beautiful clients…oh and the boss is pretty cool too!
Alysha Ellis
Alysha is starting her fourth year at Zibido since she chose hairdressing as a career. She started out as a work experience employee with us and the team loved her so much they kept her on.
Alysha has competed in regional competitions the last two years and has placed runner-up and fourth for her work. She also entered in the Goldwell Colour Zoom, Wella Trend Vision, and Editorial Stylist.
Alysha loves hairdressing because every day brings something different. She specialises in blonde hair and loves a good head of foils. Alysha loves to up skill and takes any opportunity to learn the various methods involved in creating that perfect hair style for a client.

Kia Ora! my name is Buffy!
I've been in the Hairdressing Industry for five and a half years and a Senior Hairstylist for approximately three years.
My hobbies and interests are Gardening, Rugby, Movies, Gyming, Anime and gaming.
Whanau time is my go-to when Mum is cooking Sunday roast dinners! And when it calls for it, a Glenfiddich and a cocktail ain't too far away.
Throughout the duration of being a hairstylist, I competed in the New Zealand Hairdressing Comps hosted in Hamilton. In 2019 Hair Comps, I came 1st place (Senior Stylist) Winner Design: Editorial Short and (Senior Stylist) 2nd Place Colour: En'Trend Ombre which was a truly amazing experience.
I have participated in many Photoshoots and Seminars such as the launching of the GHD helios in Auckland and Lust Colour comps to name a few. I love to dabble in all hair services in particular more Balayage and long hair. I find the hairdressing industry a rewarding career choice as it helped me be who I am today. Megan
Hi! My name is Megan and I've been a stylist at Zibido for almost a year now and have been hairdressing for almost 7! My partner and I live together in Hamilton, tend to always be on the move and checking out the city (or further up/down the country) or sitting at home watching anime.
I've always been very creative and that's why I love hairdressing. I see it as an art form. I specialise in bright colours and anything else exciting. I love seeing how a colour or style can change a person's look, mind and attitude! I dare to push the boundaries. I've also always been quite competitive. Competing in live competitions for the last few years placing 2nd, and 3rd in a few of them. I have been a lot more involved with photographic competitions since being with the Zibido team.
I am currently on the GHD Style squad for 2020/21 which is a creative styling team, we partake in events and new launches involving GHD. I have worked on fashion week with Augustine as well as been involved with many other behind the scenes shows and educational events. Education is super important to me too so I try to attend as many things as I can and be involved with many different kinds of events. Can't wait to see you in the salon and create some amazing hair and memories! Remember life is too short to have boring hair.
